Fun flavors South of the Border play
Costumes above par in Member-Member Tournament.

Hola! MBWGC’s Member-Member Golf Tournament was held on Sept. 17 and once again, it was one of our favorite play days of the year! Anne Russell and Bev Shaw do a bang-up job making it a fun day for everyone with their decorations, goodie bags and fun games. This year’s Chapman partner game was a blast and the South of the Border theme and costume contest added more flavor to the mix.
Here are the costume contest winners, as voted on by you, the Member-Member players:
First Place: Stacy Bates, Diane Wyatt, Linda Collins and Connie Edwards Stacy was the super organizer. She had each of her team members buy their own shirt and hat. Then she went to the Dollar Store (because Sax Fifth Avenue was closed) and purchased all the extras touches, including their “skirts,” which she fashioned using the finest quality duct tape.
Second Place: Sally Oliveira and Alice Gibson Sally and Alice earned the Best Couple award, Sally with her lovely lace shawl and festive flowered headpiece and Alice, with her brightly striped poncho and bandolier fully loaded with mini liquor bottles.
Third Place: Linda Cruzan, Bev Shaw, Anne Russell and Rita Johnson The colorful foursome looked lovely but they were totally unable to play golf with their long skirts blowing in the breeze and getting in the way as they tried to putt.
Fourth Place: Holly Danks and Leila Chambers Wearing decorated sombreros (Holly's with a golf tableau complete with miniature cart, ball-snatching trees and tiny clubs) and avo-taco T-shirts, Holly and Leila looked like they were a team in tune. But before we knew it, Leila had ditched Holly and run off with a band of wandering mariachis!
Mustachioed Kristine Lautrup and Christine Marshall were having none of that! They hopped on their steady steeds (golf cart) and quickly brought Leila back in time so her team wouldn’t have to forfeit the hole.
